I will present ‘revised dictionary supplement: a performance’ in Studio B, AMATA on the Penryn campus, Falmouth University on Thursday 16th June. The performance is being hosted as part of this year’s Postgraduate Summer Symposium. Further details to come!
On Tuesday 15th February 2022, I premiéred a new performance work, ‘revised dictionary supplement’ at University of Plymouth theatre venue, The House.

On Tuesday 15th February, at The House, University of Plymouth, I will present a performance that responds to the text of ‘revised dictionary supplement’, the second of the projects published in At Sounds Like: 3 Projects. Using dance, improvised actions, and gestures I will treat the textual material as a score for movement, as a ground for further inscription, and as an occasion of variant reading. The live event will draw attention to the materiality of language, to writing as going on, to (im)possibilities of (mis)communication.

From 21st September I will spend 2 weeks in Glasgow working with Rosanna Irvine on developing new work. We have time and space to work on extending the performance piece Material+Transition which we presented as part of Breath Pieces, at Tramway in June last year.
Material+Transition works with the material possibilities of sound prior to the emergence of language using a compositional structure that involves deep listening, progressive, embedded transitions and ‘melding’ of sounds – so displacing the individual voice. We will take this approach to develop compositional methods for working also with gesture and towards language, to create ‘some variations’ that seek always to exceed the dualism of two: the binary of you and me.
Through the second week we will be at The Workroom in Tramway, and we plan to share some of the outcomes of our working on Friday 4th October at 6.00pm.
I have been making some small collage pieces as part of my work on the Enter Text residency at Arteles Creative Center in Finland. The images are working around gestures, body language, and learned behaviour. The plan is for these to accompany a text I am writing on related themes and appear as an artist publication.
