On Thursday 27th November a new exhibition of installed and sculptural work by Andrew Kearney, titled The Meaning of Nothing, opened at the City Gallery, Limerick. The exhibition will run until 8th January 2015, and Kearney’s work occupies the 5 spaces upstairs at the Gallery. The work includes a mix of elements from Kearney’s archive, with new items constructed specifically for these spaces.
I have written a short accompanying text, ‘A Curiosity of Nothings’ that investigates some of the themes of the exhibition. On Friday 28th November, Kearney and I conducted a public conversation in the installation spaces, where we discussed the objects, their making, their associations, and their interrelations with the building and the city.
